BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK: RIMS LAUNCHES TABLET

After months of chatter and rumours, Research in Motion has confirmed the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook, a 7-inch tablet for business savvy consumer.
"This is a really special announcement I've been saving for DEVCON", said the company's CEO Michael Lazaridis at the company's DEVCON 2010 conference in San Francisco.
The new device will run a completely new operating system called QNX, which the company bought earlier in the year, rather than its BlackBerry OS as found on its smartphones like the BlackBerry Torch and Bold handsets.
The new tablet will be always on, ultra mobile, ultra thin 7-inch display feature HTML5 and full Flash 10.1 support says RIM. The new device will measure just 9.7mm thick.
It will offer 1080p HD video support with non-proprietary HDMI and USB connections.
There will be two cameras, both HD, front and back the CEO confirmed at the company's keynote.
"You'll be able to run two screens at the same time," said Lazaridis suggesting that it will be idea for presentations allowing one screen to have the presentation on it pumped out to a big screen, while notes will be displayed on the screen to read from.
BlackBerry maker RIM has said that the new device, which will go up against an already crowded market. Both Samsung and Toshiba announced Android powered tablet devices at IFA in Berlin while Motorola and HTC are expected to announce devices of their own  next year.
The market is of course already dominated by Apple, who launches its iPad to huge success earlier in the year. So far the company has said that they've sold over 3 million devices.
