JANET JACKSON APPEARS ON COVER OF VIVA MAGAZINE. HER KEYS TO HEALTHY LIVING? LAUGHTER & PRAYERS...!!!

Lady in red Janet Jackson is radiant on the cover of the current issue of Viva Magazine and in the accompanying interview she chats with the magazine about making peace with her body, what she’s learned from being in the business and how prayer plays a part in her daily life.
See what Janet had to say below along with photos from the shoot.
On her love for the city of Toronto: “One of the lyrics in Come Back To Me is ‘I miss you so much. Wherever you are, I love you.’ That is exactly how I feel about the City of Toronto. The people of Toronto have always been so warm and welcoming.”
On overcoming her past struggles: “It has been a long road, but I love my life now, I really do. I appreciate all the success that I have had and learn from those things that are not what I would want them to be.”
On how she’s lessons she’s learned from the music business: “I would say always listen to your gut. It will never steer you wrong.”
On being called fat as a kid: “As a kid, you laugh, but it still hurts. When I was doing Good Times, they thought I was too heavy and that I needed to go on a diet to lose weight. I have always struggled with weight and it goes back to my childhood.

On making peace with her body: “I am working to be comfortable at whatever weight I’m at. I would rather focus on being healthy spiritually, emotionally and physically. I’m an emotional eater. If I am stressed or sad, I head straight for a bag of potato chips.”

On living a healthy lifestyle: “It would be easier to say what foods I don’t like. I love all kinds of food, really. I do follow more rules when I am on tour. I have to be stricter with what I’m eating. We have worked so hard on creating a fun show for the fans that I want it to be perfect for them. I work out six days a week for about one hour with my trainer, Tony Martinez. He mixes everything up so I don’t get bored. He works hard to make my workouts fun. We laugh a lot and that makes it all easier.”
On incorporating laughter and prayer in her life: “If I wasn’t having fun, I wouldn’t be doing this tour. I laugh all the time. I have a lot of amazing people on tour with me. We’re like a family and we joke around all the time. I begin each and every day with a prayer. That is very important to me. I eat many small meals throughout the day afterward.”
