THE MAN BEHIND THE CONTROVERSIAL ANTI-ISLAMIC FILM THAT'S TRIGGED RIOTS TAKEN IN FOR QUESTIONING...!!!
Controversial film-maker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula is escorted by cops
---
THE convicted crook behind an anti-Islamic film that triggered riots through the Arab world was taken in for questioning by US cops yesterday — as violence spread to Australia.
Egyptian-born Nakoula Basseley Nakoula hid behind a hat, scarf and sunglasses when sheriff’s officers drove him from his home in Los Angeles to a nearby police station.
Fraudster Nakoula, a 55-year-old Christian, was suspected of breaching bail conditions by helping produce the vile movie which has led to at least 14 deaths in protests. Six cops were hurt yesterday as more than 200 demonstrators clashed with police outside the US consulate in Sydney. Officers used pepper spray and dogs as they faced a barrage of missiles from the mob chanting: “Obama, Obama, we love Osama.”
Protesters wielded placards saying, “Behead all those who insult the Prophet” — a reference to the movie Innocence Of Muslims which portrays Muhammad as an adulterous madman who sanctions child sex abuse.
The clashes came after a wave of violence against American and other Western targets in Islamic countries.
A 36-year-old man died after being hit by rubber bullets during skirmishes with Egyptian police in Cairo.
Two demonstrators died in Sudan and another in Lebanon, where American fast-food outlets were targeted. Four Yemeni protesters were earlier killed in protests in Sanaa.
The death toll from an attack on the US embassy in Tunis rose to four yesterday with 46 people injured.
Police opened fire on Friday as thousands of protesters hurled petrol bombs and tried to storm the building. The nearby American school was torched and ransacked.
America last night told non-essential embassy staff in Tunis and Sudan’s capital Khartoum to leave.
The Sudanese had rejected a request for a platoon of US marines to be sent in to boost security.
Protests first flared after the trashy anti-Islamic film sparked an attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in which ambassador Christopher Stevens and three colleagues died.
President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were at a Maryland airbase on Friday when the victims’ remains were flown to the US.
The President said yesterday: “There is no excuse for attacks.”
Nakoula was allowed home yesterday after being quizzed. He was jailed for 21 months in 2012 over an identity-theft fraud.
