KENYA: SEVERAL PEOPLE INJURED IN AN EXPLOSION IN KENYAN CAPITAL NAIROBI...!!!

A large explosion has rocked a predominantly Somali district of the Kenyan capital Nairobi, police say.

The cause of the blast in Eastleigh is not yet clear, officials added. It is not yet known if there are any casualties.

The district was hit by two grenade attacks earlier this month that left at least six people dead.

Kenya has accused Somalia's al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab militant group of trying to destabilise the country.

The Citizen TV station reported that the blast happened on Eastleigh's Muratina road.

Kenyan KTN TV said explosives "were hurled" at a bar close to a mosque, but this was not confirmed.

Police chief Moses Nyakwama told AFP news agency: "There has been an explosion in the area. We do not have any more details currently about the nature of the explosion or whether there are casualties."

In November, Kenya accused al-Shabab of launching a grenade attack on a bus in Eastleigh, killing seven people.

Last year, Kenya sent its troops to fight al-Shabab in Somalia. They have now joined the 18,000-strong African Union (AU) force supporting the UN-backed government.
