NICKI MINAJ ROCKS TEEN VOGUE JUNE/JULY ISSUE.

Many people have been loving the more toned down, more traditionally glammed up Nicki. Her edge and beauty make her fun to watch. Most recently, she’s covering Teen Vogue and chats about the silliness in the business saying,

“People treat this business like it’s high school…It can absolutely feel like one big popularity contest, and you know what? I can’t be bothered. I can’t allow myself to play ridiculous games with grown adults in the industry. I can’t be nice to someone just because they’re hot right now. I can’t do it.”

Nicki has always insisted on the fact that she keeps it very real. She talks about her journey starting on MySpace and how real opinions can help you grow, but that negativity can’t be given power.

“I used to read the bad things people said about me on Twitter. Then I asked myself, ‘Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things?’ You cannot give negativity power. I tell teens, if you’re having a problem, there’s nothing wrong with deleting your social media. If people keep taunting you and you keep reading it, it’s poison.”

She talks about moving around a lot as a kid and having a difficult time making friends. Bullying is a big thing in schools lately, and there is a debate on what actually qualifies. But I think one thing that’s consistent is being confident and focusing on the positive and I’m hoping her article and spread in Teen Vogue will help the kids! Go Nicki!
