Cheryl Cole’s X Factor return is looking ever more likely as the former judge has apparently been in secret talks with Simon Cowell about reprising her role as judge.
Cheryl quit the show in 2010 after three years on the panel to try her hand at the US version. But after a fledgling appearance on the US X Factor, she was swiftly replaced by Nicole Scherzinger and relations between her and Cowell turned frosty.
After two years and patching up their differences, Cowell and Cheryl are now on talking terms and she is believed to have visited his Los Angeles mansion earlier this month to thrash out a deal for her return to the UK show.
‘It’s significant that they’re talking — they’ve fallen out in the past and this period of peace makes her return a matter of when, rather than if,’ a source told The Sun.
Cheryl’s return could be just what the show needs, with it now averaging with eight million viewers, compared to its previous high of 19million.
